Diets That Work And Are Sustainable

By Dilcindo S.

Diets come and diets go, but not all of them actually work. Some are just a sales trick, cooked up by companies to make more money. There are diets that can actually do the body good by helping people lose weight and live healthier lifestyles. Have a look at some of these diets that work.

diets that worksThe Weight Watchers diet has been around for many years and is quite popular for how much success it has created. For this diet, each food, with the exception of fruits and vegetables is assigned points that are based on factors like sugar, protein, fat, and calories.

Each person is allotted a certain amount of points each day that they can consume, which gets dieters to think carefully about the kinds of foods that they should be eating. To increase the success of the diet, weigh-ins and meetings with other people who are also on the diet are used. They help people stick with the diet when they’re feeling the temptation to eat something that may exceed their allotted points.

The DASH diet, which is an acronym for the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, is a diet that aims to get rid of saturated fats and sodium and have a higher intake of vegetables and fruits. Sodium is known to cause bloating and saturated fats are a major component of weight gain. The fruits and vegetables offer a wealth of nutrients and fiber that will aid in fat burning. The diet also keeps the blood pressure to healthy levels, which reduces the chances of heart related problems.

The Paleo diet takes a simplistic approach to dieting by allowing people to eat what would have been eaten by the people of the past. Meats, eggs, nuts, certain oils, seafood, seeds, and fruits and vegetables are fair game. On the other hand, dairy products, potatoes, grains, and legumes are left out. This ancient diet doesn’t take a lot to get into, and it has the benefit of weight loss and a lowered blood pressure, provided that dieters don’t eat fattening meats all of the time.

The vegan diet is one of the healthiest diets around, eliminating not only meat, but dairy and eggs. These foods are substituted with various healthier plant based alternatives. When compared to other diets, those on the vegan diet can see double the amount of weight lost. Although some processed products can be labeled as vegan, to get the maximum results from the diet, it’s best to steer clear of them and opt for healthy fats and complex carbohydrates.

Sometimes it’s better to just eat raw food, which is why the Raw Food Diet was created. This diet focuses on foods with no cooking, genetic altering, processing, or even contact with pesticides and herbicides. This includes vegetables, fruits, seeds, and nuts. When eaten raw, these foods are believed to offer the most amount of nutrients, which can be lost during the cooking process. Eating these foods raw also gives people a lower calorie and fat intake.

The diets that work are the ones that people will want to do for the rest of their lives. These dietary options give people the opportunity to lose weight and live healthy.
