Are you searching for a weight loss plan that will help you to shed extra fat without feeling hungry all of the time? Do you want one that will teach you how to transition into a maintenance menu once you have achieved your weight loss goals? If so, the Dukan Diet promises all of this, and more.
A French doctor by the name of Pierre Dukan is credited for the diet, which consists of four different phases. While he began formulating the concept back in the 1970’s, he didn’t release his worldwide best-seller The Dukan Diet until 2000. Today it has been translated into numerous languages and been delivered to more than two dozen countries.
The four phases are:
Attack – During this stage, your main focus is on rapid weight loss for a short period of time. You are allowed to eat almost seventy different protein-rich foods. This will reboot your body and get your weight loss efforts into gear. Except for pork and lamb, meats and meat products are the mainstays of this part.
Also, you are required to drink several glasses of water each day. Twenty minutes of daily physical activity and a small amount of oat bran are the other two major components of this phase, which can last up to one week.
Cruise – At this point you have activated your body to burn fat and are ready to continue with your initial weight loss success. The amount of oat bran is increased, and you can now choose from more than thirty flavorful low-starch vegetables. You can consume the vegetables every other day, along with lean proteins. The average weight loss during the Cruise phase is two pounds per week.
Consolidation – Now you can begin incorporating the previously restricted pork and lamb into your protein selection. This stage is for teaching the body and mind how to transition to a permanent maintenance plan. Choose one day each week for pure proteins, preferably the same day to keep your body more synchronized.
While some foods are still restricted, many others are not. Some starchy veggies and low-sugar fruits are allowed in moderation, as your body accommodates to these additions. The amount of cheese you eat is raised, and you are even allowed one or two meals per week where you can have whatever you wanted. The recommended length of time for Consolidation is five days per pound lost.
Stabilization – This is the final stage that will carry you through the rest of your life. The amount of oat bran you eat daily is raised to three tablespoons. You are allowed to eat what you want, keeping the essentials of the Dukan Diet in mind as you make your choices. Should you begin gaining weight, you can revert back to Attack to return to your previous goal weight.
Before you can begin the Attack phase of the diet, you need to determine your True Weight. Use their online calculator and answer several questions. This in turn will lead to a specialized plan based on your needs. A Nutritional Staircase teaches you about nutrition as you move through the steps of the program.
Though some weight loss programs toss a few e-books your way and forget about you, except perhaps when selling a new program, that is not the case with the Dukan Diet. A unique technology provides interactive daily reports. You provide it several basic pieces of information about your day and awaken to instructions to guide you through the day based on your responses.
This, along with the simplicity and effectiveness of the Dukan Diet, is why many people have found success with the protein-rich diet plan. Find out more for yourself!
